Hollywood Turns “The Giver” into the Next “Hunger Games”

I am really fucking pissed off at The Giver trailer.

Never mind that it’s in color, which it shouldn’t be. I can understand why they’d put it in color. But why do they have to turn it into a Hunger Games-esque Teen Sci-Fi Drama? Why does Hollywood feel the need to cash in on what’s trending (let’s not forget all the vampire shit that came out after Twilight), instead of focusing on the source material and what’s good?

Adobe Creative Cloud Criticisms and Article Rebuttal

I’ve been looking into Adobe Creative Cloud for some time because, well, I can’t afford to pay thousands of dollars for Flash and Photoshop, and I want Flash and Photoshop. I was searching around for more information, and came across this article:

I just have to counter some of the things in this article. Continue reading Adobe Creative Cloud Criticisms and Article Rebuttal

Weight Loss Beginning

So, part of the reason for my blog’s name Killing Time Until Dinner is because I am obsessed with food. I think about it all the time. Dinner is one of my favorite parts of the day. It seems that most of my life is spent killing time until it’s time to eat again. This is a problem. I am overweight. I need to lose around 60lbs. How can I do that when all I ever want to do is eat?

The other night, the subject of my weight was brought up with my boyfriend. He loves me as I am, but he can’t deny that he would like me to lose some weight. Sex would be better. I would look better. Most importantly, I would be happier and healthier. My weight has gotten to the point where it’s affecting my health. My asthma acts up. My joints hurt all the time. My clothes don’t fit.

Today I found the best thing ever.

It’s called LOLCODE.

It’s a programming language written in lolspeak, modeled after LOLCATS. I had a big grin on my face the entire time I was trying it out over at Code School. I don’t know if I would ever use it for a legitimate website, but damn it’s cool.

Complaining about Complaining

I hate it when people complain about people complaining about businesses. Take Facebook for example. They recently updated the way business pages are displayed, and people are upset about it. Then other people come into the discussion and say things like “Facebook is free, you have no right to complain!”

First of all, I have every right to complain. Just because Facebook is free doesn’t mean it isn’t making money off of me. Facebook and other businesses (even ones that offer free services) are successful because of their customers. Yes, Facebook has customers. Every person that uses Facebook is a customer and potential ad revenue. They’re making money off of me, why shouldn’t I get to complain?

How Dogs are a Similar Responsibility to Children

I grew up with a lot of animals in the house. We went through several dogs, a couple cats, fish, ferrets, a guinea pig, even a turtle at one point. Our cat Ki-Pu (pronounced kee-pew) will be turning a whopping 15 this year!

Ki Pu

Even though we grew up with a lot of animals in the house, none of them were explicitly my responsibility as a child. When I was in my late teens, I did have to take care of the turtle and Ki-Pu, but cats and turtles are easy. You feed them, you clean up after them, and that’s that. Not until I was 18 did I get my own dog and learn how much work they really are.
